Why we think impact and profit reinforce each other

Our case for building durable businesses as the engine for lasting positive impact, not a trade-off against it.

Durability is part of the impact

A useful solution that cannot support itself remains fragile. It depends on the next grant, budget cycle, or burst of attention.

We want the value created for customers and communities to support the organization creating it. Revenue is evidence—not perfect evidence, but meaningful evidence—that a solution has earned a place in someone's work.

What profit makes possible

Healthy economics provide time to improve the product, serve people well, and invest in the next problem. They also let knowledge, relationships, and technology compound across ventures.

The question is not impact or business. The harder and more useful question is how to design them so each strengthens the other.
